The Payment for Ecosystems Services (PES) in Mt Kalatungan, Bukidnon is being overseen by the Cagayan de Oro River Basin Management Council (CDORBMC) with two Co-chairpersons, Archbishop Antonio Ledesma, SJ of the Archdiocese of Cagayan de Oro City (ACDO) and Regional Executive Director Ruth Tawantawan of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) –Region 10.
The CDORBMC is composed of various committees actively involving sectors from government, LGUs, academe, church and business, among others.
For the PES in Kalatungan, the Oro Chamber, as the umbrella organization of the business sector, can facilitate generation of potential “buyers” of the ecosystems services. On the other hand, agri-corporations of the Oro Chamber can become potential partners of the indigenous peoples community in the agro-forestry of the PES thru its “Inclusive growth thru inclusive business” (IGIB) program.
As of the moment, many agri-business companies of the Oro Chamber already signifies interest on partnering with the community thru IGIB integrated in PES.
Through documentation of this process, NES can contribute strategically in pursuing such model of participatory decision-making process.
Increase decision-making capacity of community leaders on engaging investors.
