XSF-EcoSEED tribal partners trained for wildlife enforcement deputation

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) – Region X trained bantay lasang (forest guard) volunteers of Portulin Talaandig Tribal Association (PTTA) and Miarayon-Lapok-Lirongan-Tinaytayan-Talaandig Tribal Association (MIALITTRA) for deputation as wildlife enforcement officers (WEO) on June 3 and 10, 2015.

The DENRO-WEO training is an intervention identified in XSF’s project, “Enhancement of Community Capacity for Sustainable Ecological Protection and Economic Development (EcoSEED),” funded by Philippine Tropical Forest Conservation Foundation, Inc. (PTFCF).

EcoSEED aims to capacitate its community partners, PTTA & MILALITTRA, in protecting and rehabilitating more effectively the forests of Mt. Kalatungan Range, Bukidnon where their ancestral domains are situated.

Deputation of the volunteers after the training will then authorize them to aid DENR’s rangers in implementing forest protection measures in Mt. Kalatungan.
