The Center for Agrarian Reform and Rural Development (CARRD) organized a paralegal training on 2-3 June at the CARRD’s office in Passi City, Iloilo to strengthen the paralegal volunteers (PLVs) in leading and delivering services to the farmers on land acquisition and distribution as well as in influencing farmers to work together to endure the long process of land acquisition and distribution (LAD).
Co-facilitated with the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) Iloilo, the two-day training consisted of six modules on:
- topics on the pending bill in the Congress particularly on House Bills 4296 and 4375;
- land acquisition and distribution process under the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program Extension with Reforms (CARPER);
- re-documentation process of landholdings under Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP); and
- community organizing history, theories and principles and practices and experiences related to peasant organizing
Twenty-nine PLVs in Capiz and Iloilo, and CARRD Visayas field staff participated in the training.
