CARRD-DAR partnership feedbacking sessions and paralegal cliniquing

On 8-9 June 2016, Center for Agrarian Reform and Rural Development (CARRD) staff and 14 paralegal volunteers met with the officers of Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) Capiz and DAR Iloilo in Passi City, Iloilo and Roxas City, Capiz for the quarterly partnership feed backing session and paralegal cliniquing.  The conduct of these sessions aim at synchronizing data of CARRD and DAR on the progress of land claims, identifying areas of concern and corresponding actions to be taken especially in fast tracking the resolution of AR-related problems, complementation of work in the field particularly the conduct of consultation meetings and information drive among farmer beneficiaries and mentoring of paralegal volunteers in handling specific land cases.

Among the outputs and agreements made were the final list and benchmarking of landholdings that will be assisted by CARRD in the land acquisition and distribution (LAD) process, the scheduling of consultation meetings, inter-agency dialogues and re-organization of Barangay Agrarian Reform Council (BARC), and one-on-one mentoring and coaching of paralegal volunteers on handling contentious cases.

The sessions were facilitated by CARRD led by Visayas Area Coordinator Mr. Edmund Sanchez and CARRD Paralegal Team Leaders Ms. Melania Conta and Mr. Jose Amora.  The presence of DAR Capiz and DAR Iloilo was headed by the Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officers (PARPOs) Mr. Felix Servidad and Ms. Sally Ortega.
